![]() ![]() It’s still very much traditional metal, but with a just little bit more of a “rock” feel to it than you might expect during some parts. It sounds a little bit like old-school 1980s Maiden, but filtered through the hard rock/psychedelic rock genre and with a subtle hint of relatively recent lead singles like “Wildest Dreams”, “El Dorado” and “Speed Of Light” too. Interestingly, whilst the lyrics are cynical and nihilistic as hell, the actual sound of the song is surprisingly “light” compared to the gloomier and more serious tone of most of Maiden’s music ever since the mid-1990s or so. Yes, it took at least a couple of listens for this song to grow on me and the “wild west”-style guitar introduction really caught me off-guard, but this is definitely still an Iron Maiden song □ And if this is the “weakest” track of a possible next album, then it might even be even better than 2015’s “The Book Of Souls”. ![]() And, although I’ve only had the chance to listen to it a few times since it’s release about an hour or so before I started preparing this review, I thought that I’d offer some thoughts about it.įirst of all, ever since about 2003 or so, Iron Maiden have made a point of saving the seriously good tracks for their albums and releasing the “moderately good” track as the lead single. Woo hoo! Iron Maiden have released a new single □ This was teased about six days ago and I’ve been eagerly awaiting it since then. ![]()
